05.手【扌】部 hand

手hands舞brandish足feet蹈tread

This idiom describes the situation when a person is so happy or excited, that he/she moves his/her hands and feet as in a dance.

A news article in the newspaper East Net reported that a football fan Mr. Ge葛 was watching a football game between The Netherlands and the Cote D’Ivoire. He could watch the game live by sitting on the railing of his balcony attached to his fourth floor apartment. When the Dutch Team scored, he became so excited that he forgot where he was sitting. He became 手舞足蹈. As a result, he fell off the railing, from the fourth floor to the ground level and fractured his body in four places. It seems too much excitement can occasionally be dangerous.
