做to be贼thief心heart; mind虚uneasy

It was a dark night. A head thief led his three henchmen to a household. He climbed over the rear courtyard wall and approached the window of a bedroom. There he overheard a couple conversing within. The husband said: “Is it here yet?” The wife said, “Yes, but only the head is in.” The head thief was astonished! How did the couple know that he was the head thief? He beckoned his three lackeys into the yard with a wave of his hand. One of the thieves slipped around to the backyard. The husband asked, “How many now?” The wife said, “About half.” The husband asked, “Shall we catch them now?” The wife said, “Definitely.” This conversation scared the thieves away. They thought the couple was talking about them. Actually the couple were talking about the cockroaches inside of the room.
