44.广部 big house
广厦mansions千万thousands间(a measure word for room)
The famous Chinese Poet, Du Fu杜甫 (712-770) was born in Gong County巩县 of Henan Province河南省 during the Tang Dynasty唐朝. His poetry expressed his deep sympathy for the poor and his great dissatisfaction with the problematic society of his time. One of his poems titled Song of My Cottage Unroofed By Autumn Gale described his poor living conditions and his wish for a better life for scholars like him. Here are a few lines from his poem:
安得广厦千万间If I could get mansions covering ten thousand miles
I could host all the poor scholars and make them smile
In the wind and rain these mansions would stand like mountains high
Alas! Should these houses appear before my eye
Frozen in my unroofed cot, content I would die
