95.寸部 Chinese unit of length

尺foot 短short 寸inch 长long

尺短寸长 means sometimes a foot may be too short and an inch may to be long - or everyone has his or her strong and weak points. Below is a Chinese fable The Camel and the Goat. It conveys a similar moral.

A camel and a goat were standing outside of a garden. They were engaged in a heated debate over the advantages and disadvantages of their heights. The camel was tall, so he argued that being tall was much better than being short. To prove his statement, he immediately stretched his neck and reached the tree leaves growing over the garden fence. "You see 1 can reach the tree leaves effortlessly," he said to the goat. Of course the goat could not reach the tree leaves because he was short. The goat however, was able to steal inside of the garden between two upright poles of the garden fence. He started munching on the garden's delicious grass. "See. I could get through the fence effortlessly but you cannot," the goat said to the camel.

They both insisted they were right, and neither would admit the merits of the other panics' height.
